guilds being disbanded during the ban
What happens if you were not botting, but your guild had say 60% botters, would you be banned or would those 60% be banned and the guild broken up?
their is a saying in school we use for group work and plagiarism - if one brings you down you all go down. does the same type of idea apply here? |

more than likely the guild would be broken up, but idk. i think the guilds that primarily got disbanded though were the ones that had blatant names like "We Would Never[BoT]" or "Interrupts Work Better With [Bots]" and similar names. If you joined a guild with a name like that, it kinda goes without saying that you know the main intent of most members of the guild ;-)
if you didn't bot though, u shouldn't get banned for the actions of others names are purely fictional and made up as an example Last edited by Eragon Zarroc; May 27, 2010 at 01:12 PM // 13:12.. |

From what I've heard (don't want to start any rumors, so don't tell nobody...lol) several lets just say prominent guilds (both PvE and PvP)have had masses banned. Now, I do not know the fate of said guilds after the formentioned bans, but I do know that many of their members visit this site on a regular basis. Maybe if they would be so kind (even though not happy campers atm), they might be able to answer more directly. One guild even thinks they made Dhuum's public executions b/c of them...lol.....highly doubt that...more of a coincidence imo...a laughable coicidence.

I'm not going into it, but a particular PvE guild (70+ members), which had 30+ people botting, is not disbanded/deleted. It's just dead. |

Prob. the guilds that were match manip. using bots or not, I would imagine those type guilds got all or most of their members banned.

The guild would not be "broken up" - that is, the bans wouldn't force the guild to break up. The 40% remaining could carry on just fine, if they wanted to. There could be some problems if the leader was one of the banned, but eventually someone would get auto-assigned as leader. As long as you are not doing anything that requires a leader - such as joining an Alliance - you don't specifically need a leader anyway.

One of my Friends had his main account banned due to him being in a guild with apparent botters, Its unfortunate due to the fact I know he would not use them, I guess its a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, simple fact tho if you know of people who are botting or using bots don't get involved with them.

After all these years, everyone knows the procedure. If you got an undeserved ban, then contact support. There have been cases of mistakes being made by ArenaNet, which is why they will review if you can explain your actions. Tell that to your friend.
ArenaNet said that they disbanded some guilds. I would imagine they were ranked guilds on the ladder who gained that rank through cheating. Otherwise, its just lost members and/or officers and guild leaders.

I kinda got the impression that it was more of an auto-disband. For example, what would happen to a guild if the leader and all it's officers were banned? Would an ordinary guild member be promoted to leader or would the guild simply be disbanded?
What if it's a tiny 4 or 5 man guild and everyone was banned? Auto-disband? As far as guilt by association is concerned, what would happen in this example? Let's say you have a GvG or HA guild core team of 8 players that always team together. Of these 8, 5 are botters and 3 aren't, but those 3 are well aware that their teammates bot and have been reaping the benefits from those bots even though they themselves haven't used them. Would those 3 be banned as well? Should they be? |
